Every child is unique
Children deserve to be valued for who they are, not defined by a diagnosis or difficulty.
Unique Abilities SEND Group is a community-led charity creating inclusive, welcoming and judgement-free opportunities for children and young people with additional needs and their families.

Unique Abilities began in summer 2023 after founder Savannah Morris struggled to find somewhere her own children could feel genuinely included, understood and safe.
The first step was one sensory session each month in a community centre in Newton Aycliffe. The aim was simple: to create a welcoming place for children and a supportive community for parents and carers who understood one another.
Families kept coming. Volunteers joined, more activities opened and the community grew across the local area. In summer 2025, Unique Abilities became a registered charity.
Today, the charity works with partners and venues to create sensory experiences, teen groups, farm therapy, performing arts, sport, trips, family events and meaningful support.
We are a charity based in County Durham, but our support is not restricted by postcode. We welcome and support families from across the North East of England and beyond, ensuring that children and young people with SEND and their families can access the support, activities and opportunities we provide, wherever they live.
What began as one sensory session has become a growing community where children can be themselves and families know they are not alone.
Our work is built around inclusion, understanding and opportunities that recognise the strengths, interests and potential of every child.
Children deserve to be valued for who they are, not defined by a diagnosis or difficulty.
Friendship, acceptance and shared experiences can help children and families feel less alone.
Supporting parents, carers and siblings is an essential part of supporting a child.
Positive experiences help young people try new things, develop skills and recognise their potential.
Unique Abilities continues to grow in response to local families, new partnerships and the opportunities children and young people deserve.
One monthly sensory session opens in a Newton Aycliffe community centre.
More volunteers, activities and families become part of the group.
Unique Abilities becomes a registered charity, number 1213936.
Farm therapy and other local partnerships create even more opportunities.
Our activities are primarily for children and young people aged 0–16 with special educational needs, disabilities or additional needs. Families do not need a formal diagnosis and are not restricted by postcode.
