Helpful answers before you get in touch.
These are the questions families ask most often. If your question is not covered, send the team a message using the form above.
Does my child need a formal diagnosis?
No. A formal diagnosis is not required to join Unique Abilities activities. Families who are awaiting assessment or who do not have a diagnosis are welcome.
What ages do you support?
Unique Abilities primarily supports children and young people aged 0–16, alongside their parents, carers and families.
Do we need to live in a particular postcode?
We are a charity based in County Durham, but our support is not restricted by postcode. We welcome and support families from across the North East of England and beyond, ensuring that children and young people with SEND and their families can access the support, activities and opportunities we provide, wherever they live.
How do I book an activity?
Current sessions and events can be booked through Unique Abilities on Bookwhen. Each listing explains the date, venue, age guidance and who may attend.
Can siblings, parents and carers attend?
Whole-family support is important to us, but attendance arrangements can vary by activity. Please read the event listing and contact the team if you are unsure.
Are bookings refundable?
Bookings are non-refundable once made. If Unique Abilities cancels or changes an activity, the team will contact affected families about an appropriate refund or alternative.
Where do activities take place?
Activities are held at different community venues and partner locations. The exact address and access information will be shown on each individual event listing.
How can I hear when new bookings open?
Join the mailing list for new activities, booking alerts, charity news and family opportunities. You can unsubscribe at any time.
How quickly will the team reply?
The charity team will respond as soon as they can. Unique Abilities is a community charity, so response times may vary during busy periods and around activities.
